Happy Food Ending

I'm so glad that I can blog from my phone. This makes it a lot easier on days that I'm tired!
Today was a weird day- I had to get tested on a few viral infections that I could catch on the hospital since my blood counts are so low.

So most people have their blood playlet counts at 150.
Mine are 19

Hemoglobin should be over 12
Mine are 6.5

I think I totally butchered the medical part of what I just said but just understand that they are looowww. 

 So today whenever I had friends visit me they had to put on masks and gowns so that they didn't infect me with any sort of viral sickness. It was funny but it's also weird.
I am also a bit cold pretty often and still a bit weak.
But hopefully we get those tests back soon tonight or tomorrow to see that I do not have anything viral!

Today I NEED to address a BIG problem!!!

So everyday I have had "fun" ordering food off of the hospital menu for three meals. There is something that is just so fun about someone bringing you every meal in your bed exactly how you want it. However, hospital meals are notorious for being bland and just not so good.
The funny part is that it is SO BLAND that I have to use to much salt and pepper to make it edible... and then I use too much and just get hot water with salt in it for soup.

On the menu for today I ordered "pasta and marinara". Now I know, this was a bad idea. NEVER order "marinara" on top of your macaroni or it will totally just be pizza sauce. Whatever. I had high hopes.

Needless to say that I was so not surprised to see that it was indeed pizza sauce and very very mushy noodles. I think they used to be some sort of spaghetti? No clue.

they went to the cafeteria and got me chicken tenders and French fries. This was quite a novelty for me. They don't serve this on my hospital menu and I've been craving this exact meal for days! I must have eaten them in 5 seconds. 

That's a happy food ending.

I was officially diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on Friday February 17th at 11:30am. I didn't understand much about the disease, especially everything that I needed to do to get rid of it. Hard Things but Ok Things

There has been a few hard things I didn't really feel up to posting about recently. These are just small bumps that will pass and I know I will be able to look these in the past very soon. I'll start with my hair.  You know, when I was diagnosed it was so not one of my concerns. I knew that people lost their hair because of chemo, and I wasn't too worried. I was excited to change up my hair with this opportunity and donate it to children with cancer. I really hope those 8.5" made someone as happy as my hair always made me. On Sunday, April 2nd at about 8:30, I finally got the courage to shave it. At this point my hair was coming out every minute. Anywhere from a few strands to many many chunks. It became very annoying- I had hair everywhere and I just couldn't stand it. The nurses here have clippers, and my nurse at the time, Sam said that she would do it. About My Hair Donation

Today has been a little bit of a rough day, and I think it's the first of it's kind. I have felt really weak, tired and light headed. But the nice thing about this blog site is that I can blog from my phone! How covienient lol So when I was diagnosed I wasn't told that I will be losing my hair. There's always a chance you don't, but it seemed that all of my doctors said that it WILL be gone. So at the instant I knew that I wanted to have some fun with my hair. Paying it forward was one of the best options I decided on. I located a few different sites where I could donate hair and a lot of them had strict guidelines. I found that 8.5" was the perfect amount for me to donate and that company was Wigs For Kids. I talked to my hairdresser and on Tuesday March 7th, I went in to my craziest haircut ever! I knew I wanted to dye it something fun, but I left most of the freedom of what I would have with her!  We decided on a Magenta color with some deep blue and ...
